The ancient silver coin set at the center of this pendant dates to 138-161 A.D. The coin is set in a sterling silver decorative twisted and beaded frame. The coin features the bust of Annia Galeria Faustina, known as Faustina the Elder, wife of Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius. of Roma on the front and winged victory in biga on the reverse. Faustina was known for her charity work and interest in the education of Roman children, particularly girls. The coin's authenticity as an ancient coin has been certified by a professional numismatic who specializes in ancient coinage.
